What are Exterior Shutters? (Rolladens)

All over Europe, residential homes, businesses, apartments, & garages are equipped with an exterior window covering designed to help you protect your living environment within your home or business. These exterior window coverings are called Exterior Shutters in America or as in Germany, Rolladens & Italy, Persiana. I do not have the names of shutters in any other language except Italian, American and German. If you have the correct spelling in any other language, I would be happy to add it to my list.
These wonderful window coverings come in a wide variety of color in Europe, while here in the USA many colors can be acquired with some extra cost. The exceptions are white, gray, brown, beige, cream, & Bronze, which are easily purchased without any extra cost.
Exterior Shutters can be purchased in the USA in vinyl (PVC) or metal (Aluminum). Either material bring exterior beauty and interior comfort to your home or business as well as security.
Although the majority of Shutters are installed on the exterior of the building in the US because the walls here are not built deep enough to accommodate the shutter box in the wall..they are all controlled from the inside by the owners.
Those of you who have been in Europe or the Orient may have seen many shutters with straps or motors. Now there are few options available between the straps and motors. If the window, door, etc. is small enough, many choose the strap due to the familiarity of that control or because the pull strap has the lesser cost of all the controls. If the window is larger you might want to control it with a crank strap or a universal crank. Whether you choose a strap, crank, universal or motor, you'll find that either of the devices work great with your Shutters.
Of course there are some of us who love a good remote control. You can have it your way! You can have one remote controlling up to 4 Shutters when they are closely connected. Just push the button and walk away. Or save yourself the trouble and have sensors install to take care of your Shutters.
